Byron F. Aspaas is Táchii'nii, born for Tódich'iinii. Raised within the four sacred mountains of Dinétah, he holds bachelor's and master's degrees in creative writing from the Institute of American Indian Arts. His writing revisits the destruction of sacred land and engages his readers in a dialogue about preserving Diné culture and land. Aspaas's first published work, "CoG," was included in Yellow Medicine Review in 2010. His writing has also appeared in RedInk, 200 New Mexico Poems, Weber: The Contemporary West, Denver Quarterly, Rumpus and Akashic Books. His latest essay appears in the seminal Navajo anthology, "The Diné Reader."
