Gloria Muñoz is a Colombian American author who writes across genres for children and adults. In the fall of 2019, she was selected for the Tin House Young Adult Fiction Workshop. Her latest poetry book Danzirly / Dawn's Early was awarded the Academy of American Poets 2019 Ambroggio Prize. A literary translator and advocate for multilingual writing, Muñoz was recently awarded Lumina’s Multilingual Nonfiction Award. Other recent honors include a Las Musas Mentorship for Latinx authors of children's literature, a Doris Duke-funded Artist Fellowship, a New York State Summer Writers Institute Residency, and a Creative Pinellas Artist Grant. Muñoz writes for film and TV, and she's a co-founder of Pitch Her Productions. Her writing is widely published and anthologized, appearing in Puerto del Sol, VIDA Review, Acentos Review, Lumina, the Rumpus, Yes Poetry, Best New Poets, Burrow Press, Entropy, Cagibi, and elsewhere. A proponent of cross-disciplinary collaboration, Muñoz has worked alongside botanists, musicians, filmmakers, animators, visual artists, actors, conservationists, and neuroscientists. She was most recently commissioned to write a cycle of poems for the Polish National Orchestra.
